In couple days i will be hosting a tekkit server. In this server you can spawn stuff!!!!! I am still deciding on weather to use hamachi or just portfoward. All that is needed from you is to download the appropriate launcher o the top left Coulomb on the website, and intall the launcher. When installed run the launcher and a home screen should show up, on the top left click the arrow pointing down and select "tekkit". Then just login and click multi-player, add new server, then type the in the ip. I will post the ip in a couple days, if you wish to play on the server reply your minecraft name and i will white-list you.

That's cool,I was actually looking into a server that is for Tekkit. I have one question. What version of Tekkit will it be? 3.03 rec. ver.? Oh, and you should let me make a nuclear reactor. I know the difference between a Mark 1 and a Mark 5. I actually made one in creative that is mark 1 with acceptable EU. Of course you can just make an inf. supply of EU with the watermills and inf. water source. OHOHOH! and we could find villages together and raid the loot! Then use a nuke to blow it up! It really only takes 2-3 to completely wipe it out.
i have not. nor do i know what tekkit is. next time you decide to start a server and use our name. please talk to us not just make one and think we will jump on board.

Tekkit is the same think as Technic, but tekkit is the multiplayer version. the mod pack has buildcraft, industrialcraft, equilent exchange, red power, railcraft, and more. Vertually it is just Minecraft with mods. I don't get it though on why we need it? I am not saying it is bad, but you could just install those mods onto Minecraft and play Minecraft with those mods.

Yes you could. This is just allowing people to use these mods together. Tekkit is supposed to be the bukkit server side plugin pack.
A few things, We don't allow outside advertising of servers that are not part of the Insomniac server community. We are not against other people running servers but we ask that they do not advertise. If you wish to host a server for Insomniac Servers then you need to either contact one or all of the SuperOps, or make a post asking if you can, and we will take the necessary actions to approve or deny your request.
its not an advertisement or something like that is siply do you what to play tekkit. nohing more and if everyone keeps hinking its part of insomniac i might s well ask for permission from some superops. If the superops could decide and post it or PM m that would be great
I wanted to ask about hosting a Tekkit server for the community, I already have one running (not inviting any). But for reasons some of you know it's pointless to ask, although I am very competent with running servers.
But no matter who the host is I would like a Tekkit server on Insomniac. It's a huge modpack with much technical stuff, I know the redstone nerds would love this kind of thing. I have played it very much myself (on my server with a friend).
The best thing about it is that the server is very easy to set up, you download the tekkit server and you're ready to go. You can also add bukkit plugins like you would normally do with a regular bukkit server. I would not recommend restricting it much and instead have a whitelist for the people that can be trusted not to grief or do any other bad stuff. The client is also very easy to set up, you don't need to play around in the minecraft.jar or anything. You just have to download the launcher, select Tekkit then log in with the regular minecraft user and then you can play. Simple as that!
(For those who are skeptical about entering username and password in the launcher I can tell you it's open-source and if they added malicious code people would know)
I am trying to get aprovle from the superops, and i have a question. What is a good plugin that allows normal players to spawn stuff but not ban or kick.
Ok the server is up but not for long maby 2-3 hours this is only a test if there is a problem tell me plz... i am using hamachi, there are four networks the network names are "insomniac1, 2, 3, and 4" the password to all of them are 1234.

well hamachi is a program that connects everyone together i a sence. So you can goon my server and not get hacked so to speek or viruses... not that you will but just for safty and here is the link to download(https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx) make sure to download the UNMANAGED version ok.

I'm using the Recommended version of Tekkit so I can't firue otu the problem here. So im logged in the Hamachi Insomniac group with Glenn and 2 other people. But can't connect through Miencraft.

- its speedtest.net connection results
- whether it will be 24/7, and if not, what days/times it will be running
- how long you plan to run it (days/weeks/months)
- will it be a dedicated computer (i.e. is it a 2nd PC or will you be using it for normal everyday use)
Sorry bren, i spaced didn't know this was here i was absent those days but that doesn't relay matter.
This server will be running a tekkit launcher which is unlike any server you may know. It holds about 13 mods on it, and for one thing everyone will love it. Weather you like computers there is a mod called computercraft that you can make programs for mining turtles that mine for you. I dont want to spoil that mod so i will leave that up to who every interested. Another mod is red powere. People who like redstone will LOVE this mod. Another is EE, short for equivalent exchange, which lets you transmute items into other items with the same value... If you want me to explain the rest it will take a while but that is the jist of those mods, there are a TON more.

Yes the tekkit server will have its own computer, but its a laptop and wireless. I keep it next to my router and its the only thing running on my computer

I know what would happen if I tried to advertise a server around here, I would be epicly banned again. To be honest, this thread actually pisses me off.
I would very much like a Tekkit Minecraft server though, but without hamachi because it's an unnecessary 3rd party program just for the connection. It will make us look really un-pro...
That post was "un-pro". I see you're reasons but keep harsh emotions out of this. Flame wars could erupt if that ever happens. Also, Bren allowed permission for this so he is okay to run it. I don't like using hamachi but I think its nice. Reminds me of skype.

The process I have in mind is
- someone suggests a server
- the potential host fills in the details of their hosting abilities and plans
- the other hosters (me, Skitty, Darthjahona) decide if it is suitable or if it will conflict with the other servers
- if it is suitable we decide on a rota if necessary for running the servers. If its not suitable then it is not allowed to be advertised.
Since this server has just appeared without any consultation or consideration for the effect it would have on the other servers that we have been running for the past year and a half, I will remove the details of it from this thread until we have worked out what the best course of action for a Tekkit server is.
Unless someone is doing something special, the best host will usually be picked for the job. That would usually mean - good internet speed, dedicated machine, good uptime, no Hamachi.

I see bb isn't answering, so i'll try to help him a bit, I've been on a lot, and had no lag at all (other story when I was on vacation in Slovenia), so I guess the internet connection is Ok, no idea 'bout the 'dedicated machine', very good uptime, it has been up a lot (not on this moment apparently), and yes, hamachi, but... cmon... it's not that bad.... =S

Although Thorsummoner isn't REALLY considered an active member of Insomniac, Im fairly certain all of us know of his server and have at one point been active there...It now happens to be a tekkit server...(for the record, tekkit gets old fast, as soon as you realize its just too easy).

Ok I will remove hammachi if waned. And I have no need for brodbaned i have 4 wifi-extenders in my house and here is no shortage of wi-fi. I use 4gb of ram so it wont lag, but knowing the tekkit launcher its still a bit buggy. And WOW. Just WooooooW. Why didnt anyone tell me i could be banned from this server. And its just a server my God peope!
technically its a form of advertising. however we are being open minded. however if this was say for another random classic server that you wanted. yeah probably bannage.

Do you have any concept of what networking is? When talking about the internet bandwidth we are talking Mb/s, and that is not between the computer and the router. You should have a fast connection (preferably fiber) from your router to the internet, both upload and download (especially upload) speed.

Its pretty much like having a 4 wi-fi units put into one. I have a limitless amount of Mb/s. And yet again you will think that my modem is hooked up to cable or phone line like yours. I'm sorry, I was having difficulties understanding you. But you made it much clearer now, I know what you are talking about now. If you are such a pro, why are you using hamachi?!
I saw your upload speed that you posted and it's too low, it would have worked fine for normal server but you would probably need more for a Tekkit server.
Right now I have a crappy connection because I don't have much of a choice, but when I move I will get 30/30 at least.
I use hamachi because I travle almost every week and with hammachi i dont need to change the ip. Now when I posted the speedtest.net I wasnt at my house I was in my office. And you probubly will need more, but right now I wont be home for a while so I cant do much of anything.

The tekkit server is not a current server that Insomniac servers host, so for a tekkit server, sorry I can't help you, however we host creative and survival servers the IP is on the front page, but I'll post them here
