Hey, so I was wondering and maybe some of you guys who run the actual server know
Each map is a file, are they the same type for MCforge and 800Craft? As in, would it be possible to copy a map over from one server to the other? There's a "download map" button on WOM that I clicked once, and it dumped a .dat file on my computer, so maybe that's what they all are? Although there are some blocktypes in MCforge which arent in 800craft (active water/lava and the doors at least) so I'm not sure how it would handle stuff like that.
I'm not asking for any real reason, just curious.

MCForge uses .lvl files
800craft uses .fcm files

The .dat files that WOM dumps to are the original types used by the much older Minecraft servers, including the original vanilla one released by Mojang which had virtually no commands.

It is possible to transfer maps between the servers using conversion tools. But as you suspected the magic of special block types gets lost in the process. Doors, portals, active blocks, message blocks, etc. all become normal static blocks once converted.
